I'm home from my ct-guided biopsy which was a success (there was some concern about whether they would actually be able to get the sample, but the dr. was feeling pretty confident and it ended up that he was able to get smack dab in the center of the lymph node and got a good tissue sample). I'm feeling fine now, especially after getting to eat, drink and take my ibuprofen. My back was pretty sore while at the hospital waiting for the procedure and laying on that awful gurney afterwards. Oh and then there was the scheduling snafu (which the dr.'s office is still investigating to see what the heck happened). I had been told by the scheduling person in their office that my procedure would be at 9am and to be there at 7am at the Short Procedures unit on the 9th floor. She said I would be getting a call the night before telling me when to be there but to be there at 7am even if they said 8am. Okay so last night after 8pm I get a call telling me to be at the hospital at 12noon! I questioned the person who called but she said, oh they reschedule things all the time. I wrote down the room number she gave me but hadn't paid attention to it but realized later that it was a room on a completely different floor. Then I proceeded to scramble to find someone who would pick up Z. after school and hold onto her (for a playdate) for a few hours. So this morning I decide to sleep in since I couldn't eat or drink or take any pain meds. The phone rings at 9am and it's the person from the drs. office wondering where I am for my 9am procedure. A. answered the phone and went ballistic, he was so mad. They still don't know why I got the call with the wrong information. So she called back a short time later and said that they could still do the procedure, not to stress but just to get there as soon as I could and they would get me in as soon as they could. So I hopped in the shower and then off we went. Sheesh!
Oh a nice thing, the very nice anesthesia person (I had a very light sedation, I was completely aware- which I needed to be since I had to hold my breath a lot for the ct parts) and I were talking and it ends up that her son is applying to Z.'s school for next year. So we may end up seeing each other on the playground next year.
The biopsy itself went smoothly, the actual sampling part did hurt and I did moan a little bit, but it wasn't enough to make me jerk or anything and as soon as the needle came out I was fine again. I have a bandaid on my back and that's it. It kind of surprises me how high up it is, the bandaid is probably 2 or 3 inches above my waist. I've gotten different answers for when I will hear something from a couple days to one to two weeks depending on who I talk to. The drs. have said a few days, so I'm hoping they are the ones who are right. I need this report in order to get an appt. at Fox Chase, they have a pretty involved procedure to see anyone there.
Oh another weird thing, when I got there my bp was 177/97!! (I have never had a bp like that even when I had high blood pressure), but the last one they took before I left was 120/73. Guess I was a little stressed out (I figure the pain I was in didn't help either). Weird!
My ibuprofen has kicked in, my belly is full, I'm drinking my cup of green tea and feeling pretty good right now. A.'s picking up Z. and hopefully we'll have a nice Friday evening together.

Michele, so glad that the scheduling snafu didn't cause you to have to put this off. Glad it went smoothly. I hope you have a good weekend and the pain is more manageable. HUGS,
